Management and Senior Counselors
Helene W. King, Ph.D., is owner and CEO of COPE, Inc. She joined COPE in 1982 and brought with her a wide range of experiences in the fields of social and community relations. She served as a civilian family counselor in Germany for the Department of the Army, headed up the Head Start program for the University of Missouri, and was associated with community efforts in Nashville, Tennessee to resolve school system inequities. Her primary area of interest is in employer/employee systems analysis.
Since 1982, Helene has provided employee assistance counseling and management consultation services to a range of public and private organizations. Dr. King has a BA from the University of Chicago, a Master of Education from Harvard, and a doctorate in Psychology from Vanderbilt University. She is licensed in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia, has basic and advanced Critical Incident Stress Debriefing training and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
Alden K. Jordan, is COPE's Chief Financial Officer. In this capacity, Alden overseas the company's financial and daily business operations. In addition, she is responsible for COPE's monthly Work-Life publications and client outreach. She has been associated with COPE Inc. since 2007.
Alden comes to COPE with a background in finance, international banking and risk management. She worked at The Northern Trust Company, in Chicago, IL and Bessemer Trust in New York City. She holds a master's degree in International and Public Affairs from Columbia University.
Rose Smith, M.A., LPC, CEAP, has been with COPE since 1991. Prior to joining the team, Rose was a biofeedback therapist for the Neurology Center P.A. in Maryland and a Rehabilitation Counselor and Supervisor for the Maryland State Department of Education.
Rose focuses on employee assistance counseling and management consulting services in the federal sector. In addition to short-term counseling and mediation, Rose is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISD). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Zoology and her master's degree in Counseling and Psychology from the University of Maryland.
